Welcome to José Moura’s Wine List 2024, a portfolio of exquisite selections from choice chateaux, domaines, and bodegas throughout France, Spain, Italy, and California.
Every year we dedicate our wine list to the working people because that is where we come from, who we work with, and who we do business with: from local growers in Europe, to local bars in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Our business is to create, nurture, and grow that process, and those relationships, with farmers, creators, innovators, and educators.
For many small businesses, especially the trend-setting and fine restaurants, lounges, and upscale bars you normally find our wines in, the 2020 pandemic created a dramatic, paradigm-shift. Since then, there has been a cautious bounce-back in local hospitality, and the output of wine-producing countries are a testament. California alone was crossing the $7 billion in exports and domestic sales in 2022. In earnest, we see that “recovery” and return to normalcy we have been waiting for in 2024 — at least up until November…
Inflation continues to affect working folks, as supply chains, storefronts, remote work, and overall consumer fears continue to adjust to a new reality few economists could figure out. At the same time, the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine continue to weigh in on our overall outlook.
But we are a resilient people. And through wind and tall waves, we continue onward.
Our Wine List for 2024 is dedicated to our brothers and sisters around the world who have suffered from the ravages of the pandemic, war, inflation, and continue to do the good work. It is especially dedicated to the first responders, the folks who work to keep the rest of us safe so we may continue to dream, and march forward to a better world, and the worlds beyond.
Our need to transcend conventions continues to drive us forward, as we constantly look to make course corrections when needed.
